I am only not having much luck with my recent reads from the backlist of this author…and I love her books. But this one simply sat at that place. It was meh. Not expert…swell.

Charlotte is a well respected nanny and she has been hired to intendance for a young five year sometime boy. She is hired past the married woman of the hero….yes you read that correctly. The hero is married and they have a child. Now the wife is evil and conniving and the reader cannot help simply detest her merely it is non a safe read in that attribute that the human relationship begins when he is married. Information technology is as well a slow burn compared to her other books.

The hero Brett is disfigured from a car accident and has hidden himself away in the castle because of his appearance. He is a likable hero at times only my feelings changed as the story evolved.

I wouldn't recommend this i. But I will continue to brand my way through the backlist. Happy reading.

Have you ever wanted a steamy Dazzler and the Beast retelling? You might not get the Disney fantasy, but you lot will get the true love part. Or will y'all?

Charlotte is a nanny and she goes in a rich family to have intendance of a little boy. His mother is enervating and his father stays in his room at all times.

Mr. Male monarch survived a fire accident and half of his face is covered with a golden mask, to hide the lamentable memories. He almost never goes out and his son is scared of him. As well,he merely visits him at night.
He ever talks to his son's nannies through the intercom, to enquire most his day. But with this nanny, it feels different. He can't wait to hear her voice.

Compared to ''Nanny and the Beast'', The Human being in the Mirror is not as steamy, and the love relationship feels a flake more than realistic. However, the story is still under developed for my tastes.
The nannies in Georgia's books are represented in a bit of an unrealistic style. As a nanny, I think you will ever influence the kid you spend fourth dimension with. Bear in listen, you spend all day, every day with them. But at that place are rules and boundaries set by the parents, and you do not cross those. The author somehow forgot about this part, information technology seems.

The Human in the Mirror opens up plenty of topics for discussion and in the cease, it is a quick and enjoyable read. Georgia's books are the ones that you lot pick upward, wanting to have a quick read moment and relax.

If this book sounds intriguing, get and grab your copy, and let me know in the comments whether you enjoyed it.

As much as I love Georgia'due south stories, this one reminded me so much of her volume Disfigured dearest (which I LOVED, btw) and I couldn't help but comparison the 2, and in this case, The Human in the Mirror came out second.

I know, it's a dissimilar aspect and a different storyline with merely like subject the story concerns with, merely in this book, the main thing that I couldn't find (but I have in Disfigured love) was the emotional connection between the main characters. I needed that to feel complete and I couldn't notice information technology or motion forward beyond their mutual entreatment and mystified allure for i some other. Thus making this story shadowed by my ain reflections of the thing I know Georgie can deliver to the indicate of no return, but not here.

Nevertheless, for the rest of you (who are not deterred by the emotions and recollections past LOL) this is a solid romance with a little chip of angst and a very huge HEA.

Box of Shame for Me

It has to be said that I, like everyone else I'yard sure, have weaknesses. 1 of my known weaknesses is the "Dazzler and the Animal" thing.

I really actually love that for some crazy reason. So when I stumbled upon this one I was actually excited.

Sadly though, I didn't like this one. I've finished information technology some time agone and I but idea about it really hard.

I'm by and large into MM reads for the last few years, and I wanted to brand double sure that's not the reason I didn't enjoy the book.

Information technology's non though. I can honestly say that now. There were just too many things that didn't work for me.

Please don't read this every bit it is A SPOILER AND IT WILL SPOIL the book for you lot if y'all go ahead. Be warned.

(view spoiler)[
i. I establish the "wife" thing totally ridiculous. I could for the life of me not understand how this wonderful mentor of his sprouted something then vile and selfish. I'm sad. It makes me question the greatness of said mentor and it makes me think really bad things nigh the male MC for choosing to spend his life with such a person.

2. I don't fall for the whole; I could not communicate with my kid thing. This guy, the keen Brett King, has more coin that he knows what to do with, and so much coin he bought a castle for the hell of information technology and had the landscape dug upwardly to supply his greatness with net cables so he could practise his work.

I accept no problem with his internet cable. Simply can you honestly tell me that a human being with that much money cannot make a program with some highly sophisticated computer programme to chat with his kid on a regular footing?

So the boy is "scarred" of his father'southward new look. Then don't show him your new face? (Ps. He seemed to get over "The Face up" really quick for such a scared boy)

And don't fifty-fifty start with the "his mother worked against that" thing. Brett supplies the money, he holds all the ability, every bit fabricated abundantly clear when he at long last grew a pair and decided to put said power to use.

I feel that if he cared and so much about his son, he wouldn't let him be exposed to a adult female as vile equally his "mother" but it seems his smarts only lie in business, cause he sure can't read people very well. If you recall so desperately of someone how tin can you permit them full access to your child? Without any supervision or control of any kind?

On to the next thing.

He doesn't know the nanny. Only her voice really does information technology for him? Hmmmmm And then suddenly he's thinking information technology'south a pity she's probably old. Yeah...

3. Charlotte. She is portrayed as the picture of moral definiteness and all things good and loving.
Just it'due south okay to lust after / shag the dominate cause his wife is a bitch right?

And his own lack of presence in his son's life is not his mistake afterwards all... He'south but a highly successful business man, what more do you lot want him to be?

For some strange reason at that place went the "respect" thing in my humble opinion. But hey, she was doing it for the child right?

In that location. I spoke my mind and I'yard sorry for being the odd one out in not thinking this deserves 5 stars.

I immediately deduct a star when the author has to over exaggerate a graphic symbol in order for the reader to dislike him/her.

Exaggeration was painted so thick in this one, we had to scrape at it with a putty pocketknife to try and see how dear Mrs King was remotely spawned from her belatedly Bully and Wonderful father. She evidently DIDN"T get the genes.

And Mr Male monarch plainly is non a good estimate of grapheme so we really don't know HOW great the late mentor really was.. Hmmm.

I think I've said enough.

This was a dainty like shooting fish in a barrel read.
There'due south no surprises, it goes exactly equally expected. But I enjoyed it anyway. Although not every bit much as her earlier Disfigured Dearest.

My primary event was the apparent lack of chemistry between the Brett and Charlotte.

The heroine, who has already lost a close friend, decides to brand some changes defying the mother. She starts taking care of the son, while as well fixing his broken relationship with his father. As expected, this leads to a blooming romance between her and the father. In that location is loads of hot sex, some insane drama, a rushed ending and a sweet epilogue.

I am non the biggest fan of romance in which either MCs are married- in this the hero had been separated for a long fourth dimension simply it's still awkward reading sex scenes between them. The chemistry is good, their is minimal malaise, just my biggest issue was the rushed ending. Information technology would take been meliorate if we had been shown scenes where they helped the kid recover and the mother getting her comeuppance, instead of everything happening off the page. Overnice ending.

The rules and list she is handed past Jillian the boys mother is like nothing she's dealt with before. She knows something is not right.

Brett is scarred and keeps himself subconscious away in the wing of the castle. His merely real contact is through an intercom system he has with his staff. The horror he lives with daily non only with his outer appearance simply within too. He lost the man he considered a father in a horrific accident the aforementioned that left him scarred. His marriage is a farce, his wife Jillian flaunts her affairs and has no intendance for anyone simply herself. She has also managed to turn his son from him. Filling Zackery'due south head with wild tales about the monster is begetter is.

Information technology'due south hearing Charlottes voice over the intercom that things modify. Her vocalization, theirs something well-nigh it, compelling.

Charlotte also is shocked the first time she hears his vocalization. The way information technology sounds, it does something to her. When she catches a glimpse of him in a mirror she is not agape. This man may be horribly scarred but that does not distract from his beauty. She does non come across the scars, she sees the human being.

She slowly manages to bring young Zackery out of his shell. The scared little boy who was influenced past his mothers is starting open up up. The style Charlotte brings father and son together is moving. And so be prepared for some tears.

A beautiful story, of love and hope. The attraction began earlier these ii even met. They didn't need to see each to fall in love. A new author for me and one I will be sure to check her other books out.

Wow, what an unexpected and very delightful surprise! And why is information technology such a surprise? Considering I detest nanny/wealthy employer story arcs. It's one of my to the lowest degree favorite tropes, so I tin't believe I'm saying this, simply I actually enjoyed The Human In The Mirror. A few months ago, Le Carre released Nanny and The Beast which I quickly dismissed as non my loving cup of tea, simply considering of my preconceived judgments of all nanny/employer plot device constructs. But even after weeks had passed, I found myself still thinking about the book and doubting my decision. A few days ago, Le Carre released a second nanny/wealthy employer romance, The Man In The Mirror, featuring one of the secondary characters from Nanny and The Beast, and over again I found myself intrigued, tempted and torn. Now I should insert here that I became a Le Carre fan v years ago afterwards reading The Billionaire Banker Series and generally buy all her new releases, no questions asked, but I didn't want to spend my hard earned money on books I felt sure I wouldn't enjoy. But for some inexplicable reason, I couldn't finish thinking near either volume, then I decided to identify my trust in Le Carre as an author, purchased both, and pigeon in. Best decision ever! Neither of the books was the same tired, old, clichéd stereotype I idea them to exist - they were so much more I could have ever imagined! Never take I been happier to admit my misconception. I fell in love with the mysterious Yuri and kindhearted Apr in Nanny and The Beast, and I simply adored tortured Brett and spirited Charlotte in The Human In The Mirror. Le Carre's sensual prose, skillful plot progression, superb character development, and piece of cake-to-follow first-person narrative with conspicuously defined his and her perspectives captured my undivided attending and held me prisoner, completely spellbound and enthralled, from the first page till the concluding.

So, did I similar Nanny and The Beast and The Homo In The Mirror? Yep, very much! Georgia Le Carre, you accomplished the impossible, something no author has been able to exercise in the last 65 years - you completely changed my opinion of nanny/wealthy employer romance tropes! I'thou almost lxx years immature and it takes a whole heck of a lot to alter my mind about something, simply y'all did! I guess y'all can teach an old dog new tricks after all! lol... Will I read this author again? Admittedly! Would I recommend this book? Yous bet! Actually, I recommend both books but simply for developed readers since each contains tortured, dark heroes, sassy heroines, explicit language, and graphic sex (dreamy honey scenes). And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and crawly reads!

Brett and Charlotte's story has a slow-burn feel, judging that they only seriously lusting over each other at the one-half-way point and act on it in the last quarter. In fact, I think DISFIGURED was too angst-ridden for me and I really constitute Brett a more sympathetic hero. Also, big-hearted Charlotte is merely the perfect heroine for him. Zachary is definitely better off with Charlotte as stepmother than Jillian being his birth mother.

Talk about a volume that has the power to hold you captive as each folio is turned, this book is it! I was totally invested as I turned each page of the well written storyline with characters that were so strongly written that I felt similar Brett and Charlotte jumped from the pages and pulled me correct into their story as it unfolded!
